fuel filter

I added a small engine in line fuel filter I found at the local hardware store. It seems to work but could it restrict fuel volume ?? Any one add a filter in line to supplement filtration??

I've had a fuel filter on my R65 for about 8 years .

The only way to tell if you're getting any appreciable restriction, is to test it .

Remove the fuel line downstream of the filter, and then turn the fuel tap on for a measured amount of time, measure the amount of fuel you collected .

Now do the same thing, without the filter installed in the line, and see what kind of difference you get .

I've used the common 'sintered' element filters, and now I am using a clear filter, with a pleated paper element Visu Filter FF861C .

I've noticed that after installing a fuel filter, there hasn't been the usual glob or two of water in the float bowl, and the accumulation of fine grit in there hasn't come back .

Well look me up if either of you make it. Lou you would like my mother in law she talks funny too she's from Bristol. She's 84 and loves to split a beer with any one. Usually she splits several, she is really fun.

I use a Briggs & Stratton 691035 (some references have its part number as 491629).  It’s a 60-micon filter with 1/4” single-barbed connection bosses and is only 70mm/1.75” overall length and on the shelf at Lowes and Home Depot.  Might even be on the shelf at B&Q in the UK!

Same filter is on both my R65's. Easy visual inspection for tiny crud.

I have no fuel flow problems. At least, not until I'm passing through 130 mph at the Texas Mile.  ;)
