Olympic/Krauser Bags
« on: May 12, 2009, 11:55:02 AM »
When my brother had my R65, he bought bags for it.  They're Olympic bags - basically Chinese Krauser knockoffs.  I have the mounts but no mounting brackets.  I can't seem to find any bracketry for it.  Before I go nuts and fabricate something, does anyone have a lead on where I can get a kit or used parts to get these things mounted?

Thanks,

~Q

If they are a carbon copy of Krauser bags then these mounts show up on e-Bay quite regularly...

I've seen some brackets with the mounts and bags but not the brackets by themselves.  I'll keep looking but figured maybe someone had a line on them or has been down this road before.  Here's what I have:

Here's a couple of shots before I took a set off my LS. It shouldn't be too hard to fab up some brackets if you can't find a set.
Keep your bike in good repair: motorcycle boots are not comfortable for walking.

If you know ANY Beemer with Krauser bags pop yours on and see if they fit and latch-up OK.  If so then just look for the BMW/Krauser mounts which are fairly common...

I have Olympic bags (NOS from eBay very cheap last year, with rain covers and inner liner bags - I love them) and they fit perfectly with the unmodified Krauser mounts and brackets that came with my bike.

As with all Krausers and knockoffs thereof, you'll have to put an extra strap around them anyway or they will end up on the highway sooner or later.
