It's just a little ding...

...but I had to repair it prior to repainting the 83 R65.

Dinged dead right on the tank's styling crease! A corner no less. I never catch a break on this sorta stuff. 100 grit knocked down the surrounding paint and primer. A Dremel lookalike with a wire wheel got into the lower surfaces. The wide blue tape protected the surrounding paint.

Bondo is a love-hate thing with me. Sometimes it's like taxes; just unavoidable. First pass established a partial crease shape and revealed a low section created when the metal moved with the original ding.

A second skim pass with the Bondo, some careful artsy work with 220 & 320 grit on a hardside/softside rubber block restored the tank's original shape. A shot of primer protects the bare steel from evil Mr Rust.

Painting follows soon: front fender, tank, side panels and seat tail piece.
