BMWMOA National Rally
« on: May 28, 2009, 10:01:18 PM »
Hi all.  It is still a little ways off, but I wanted to start a thread to see if we can possibly find a time and place to meet for a group picture while at the rally?

I am going to be REALLY busy, as I won't be camping at the grounds, and I will not only be entertaining my local (non-riding) friends there, and showing off our "way of life" (en mass) to them, but possibly my new/old female friend, Sonja.  If things go well this weekend when I visit her in Florida, she is going to fly up to Indy before the rally, and we are going to drive down together cage-style and so I will have her energy and considerations as well!  :o

And we will be pulling out on Sunday morning....

Arriving Thursday evening.  I have a room booked at the Comfort Inn at South Kingsport

Good idea Rob,

I know from experience that our chances of finding each other at such a huge rally are very slim...just a matter of luck. We will run across each other but only direct communication will ever get any of us camping together or socializing at the same place/time. When one arrives, you are hot and maybe a bit tired and finding a campsite is a matter of sometimes, a frazzling experience so ya just stop where ya find a space. If we all volunteered and came in early before Wed. then we have a great chance of some of us getting to camp together as we did at the much smaller Gathering of the Clans in 2008. So we really need to select a time and place (beer tent is good) to meet and get the pic with all of us and the flag!
Hanging out together will be cellphone territory!!!
The MOA thinks this may be a huge rally with 10,000 attendees! Much bigger than Gillette. Good area and the East are 2 good reasons!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".

I agree wholeheartedly!  Not sure we're going to make it, though.  I've committed to be at the RA rally the next weekend in West Virignia Motomark1, the fellow I work for that does training) is putting on the dirt bike classes for the RA Rally.

IF I can still find a room, we MIGHT head that direction - just have to firm up plans and talk the hubby into it!

Rob, good luck with your first outing with the new/old girlfriend!   :-*

Note to Rob - Don't ever call her "old" if you want her to be/remain girl-friendly!
 ;)

Sue and I have each other's cell phone #, and as we get closer to the rally, should probably PM others who are planning to be there with cell #s.
At the West Bend, WI rally, Sue and her gang were tenting about 50 yards or less from where my cousin and I ended up, purely by chance - but we didn't meet until calling each other on cell phones by the beer tent area.
