Heat sensitive M/C road racers
« on: July 27, 2008, 04:07:30 PM »
The plan was to ride from Denton, Texas, to the new Eagles Canyon Raceway for their scheduled Motorcycle Open Track Day.

Our group of five riders had three of us on airhead BMWs with the other two riding rice  We arrived at the track about 0745 hours Sunday morning.  Gates locked.  Well... Who would not want to pay $175.00 to ride around on a 2.5 mile black asphalt track on a forecasted day of 103 degrees while wearing full leathers. Wimps ;)

We headed on south to Decatur, Texas, for breakfast on the square.  Situated about thirty miles north of Cow Town, aka Fort Worth, Decatur has a vibrant courthouse square surrounded by shops and eateries.  On weekends, it is a biker destination.  We beat the crowd.  Got home before the heat hit us.

All pictured are employees of the Denton ISD.   L-R:  Steve Beck (1978 R100), Monte Miller (1981 R65), Joe Alvarez (Honda Rice cruiser) and Richard New (another Rice rider).  Photo was snapped by Bobby "O" (R90)

Is "ISD" a school district?  I've been doing a lot of work, inspecting frozen vegetables, for the Houston ISD but I don't really know what it is.  If kids were actually eating what I grade, they wouldn't be fat.

ISD = Independent School District.

Until ISDs and others decide that children's nutrition is more important than the volume of cash that they receive outta these danged vending machines placed in schools... our children will continue to consume foods with minimal nutritional value. Contact each member of your local school board with your opinions. These folks are elected to serve their constituents... CHILDREN! See that they do so or vote 'em out.

Ooh... This may get bumped to the Rant neighborhood.

BTW, it did hit 103 in Denton yesterday afternoon. Not the heat index but 103 actual. Glad our scooter ride was in the morning.
