I recently (about a month ago) tested and got my General Class license after being off the air for about 50 years. Back in the late 60s I had a Novice ticket but never was able to get my code speed above 10 WPM so I gave up on it. I decided to take a chance and test once I found out that code was no longer required so I took all three tests on the same night. I passed Tech and General but missed Extra by 9%!
I have an ICOM IC-2300H in the truck and a couple weeks ago I picked up a used semi-antique (like me) Yaesu FT-707 transceiver with matching FC-707 antenna tuner.
I soon remembered how fun, yet frustrating, HF can be with bad conditions!
If there are enough of "us" maybe I could start a dedicated section.
