I just want to wish all our friends down Texas way, and all around the gulf area best of luck in getting through this storm.  Be careful guys, and don't take any chances!

Yeah, looks like those poor folk down Corpus way are gonna get a nasty drowning.  Harvey is forecasted to just sort of hang out churning around for a day or two - maybe 20" of rain, or more, in some areas.

I lived in the southeastern Houston area 24 years ago .

When I started work with Southwest Airlines in June, '93 .

I was told when I was there, if there was a major hurricane, to get out of the area that I was living in at the time .

The area has recieved around 40 inches of rain, just a bit over 1 meter .

5-6 feet, 1.5-1.8 meters of flood waters right now in this area .

With possibly 24+ inches, .6+ meters to come in the next 3-4 days .

I live in a desert for a good reason !!! ;)

Thanks for a the well-wishes, concerns and prayers..Returned home Monday after evacuating Corpus Christi Thursday night.
Bike was safely stored in the dining room.
Lost a couple of fences, and lots of smaller tree limbs but never lost power.
We dodged the bullet on this one but Port Aransas and Rockport , just 20 miles north and east, were not so lucky. Pretty much total destruction, and Houston may never be the same.....Top up your tanks and gas cans now because we may lose 1/4-1/3 of our national production for awhile.

Glad you're back and safe. I guess the good news is that the rain seems to finally be moving away. The bad is that now we'll really get to see the extent of the damage. And it's still going to be a few days before the water really starts to subside, from what I'm hearing.

My sister is west of Houston. Her area was still (relatively) dry yesterday but she is near the Adkisson reservoir and there was some concern about that. But even in her dry-ish area they're kind of isolated.  Safe at home but can't really get anywhere.

Good luck down there, hope got by with minimal damage.
