Now the Koalas aren't so bad, but it's the Drop Bears you need to watch out for.  ::)
The koala's carnivorous cousin.

Naw.  I bet them's good eatin', fried up with a little bacon.

Now I understand why Aussies (in general, casting no aspersions on you, Aussie) drink so much beer! [smiley=1drink.gif]

I'm sorry I am sitting here chuckling at the computer.

Back in my Airforce days I remember one of our boys "selling" a koala to a USAF guy.

He gave him a litre bottle of Jim Beam in payment and asked "How do I get him down?" The Ozzie replied just wait a bit and he'll come down and then wandered off with the bottle under his arm.

Or when I was at Clarke Air Case in the Phillipines we had the American boys convinced we all had pet Kangaroos with special saddles. We used to saddle them up and take them for rides around the streets, what I couldn't believe was the amount of people who actually believed us.

Those memories definitely bring a mischievous smile to my face.

I know that I'd be scared if I were sleeping one off under a tree and had a koala come down and land on me !

So Aussie is slowly melting in the heat while I watch the ice slowly melt off the rooftops. This is day two with our local public schools and two major universities locked down. Brrrr

Here in Texas, one-quarter inch of ice shuts down our schools, roads and most businesses. I know, I know. I'll hear all about how them Yankees can drive on ice but us cats down south are terrified of the frozen stuff. Bring it on. I hate cold weather. <snip>
Monte

It's not true.  Yankees cannot drive on ice.  They can drive in the snow but solid ice is a really bad idea...especially in the hills.  You end up mating with guardrails, telephone poles somebody's bushes and then guess what...your stuck because the tow trucks wont go out in a freaking ice storm.

Now I have driven from Albany NY to Chester Vermont in a snow storm in a Chevy Chevette with six cinder blocks in the hatchback with nylon chains on the rear wheels.  I passed a Subaru spun out going up hill out of Ressaeler NY.  After two hours there was 4 inches of snow on the road and I was driving in Virgin Powder.

Priceless.

There was a time when I would do anything to go skiing.

Well it appears that the worst is over - only about 36C today. 21.5C last night - pure bliss as my ceiling fan in the bedroom gave up the ghost a couple of days ago  >:( (and the Evap AC does bugger all if temps are over 40C)

Supposed to be 40C on Friday and then mid to upper 20'sC on Sunday.....

Approx 40 people have been reported as having 'died suddenly' during the lat week or so <thinks it may be because of the weather?>

I love the quote put out by NEMMCO (the electricity provider) today. 'As a result of the lower temps in Victoria and NSW there will not be any  MORE ROLLING BLACKOUTS in South Australia'....Nice to know that we're uppermost in their thoughts.. Bastar..s!!

Currently (6:30pm) 32.6C (91F) and 53% humidity. Cool change is slowly arriving (not before time). Supposed to be 17 - 25C tomorrow. I HOPE. [smiley=beerchug.gif] So far have lost a couple of trees (with this weather and the drought and about half a dozen shrubs including a couple of very nice Camelias. Lawn looks like someone has taken a blow torch to it.  :()

Roll on Sunday.

To take a leaf from trolle.....greetings from a hot, dry and brown south

I just wonder: If we mixed the two climates, wouldn't it be perfect: Sunny, cool, dry roads, green pastures, lots of cornes with good tarmac, nice views, resting spots with shops selling cold beer ...

It's good that dreams are free  :)

greetings from a grey, foggy and wet north
