Flooding and the Moto Guzzi Rally in MN
« on: August 25, 2007, 10:10:18 PM »
I don't know if anyone here has heard about this yet, but on some other forums I have heard about the flooding out of the Moto Guzzi rally in Minnesota.  There are a probably more than a few folks who have Beemers and Guzzis.  Here is a link to someone's pictures from there.

This is enough to make grown men cry.   [smiley=cry.gif]

Geez, you just don't know how lucky you are until you read about stuff like this happening to someone else! I'm guessing that there ain't no insurance coverage to take care of a catastrophe like this, huh?   :(

Makes you not want to camp anywhere these days, is it my imagination, or is this weather situation getting a bit out of the ordinary, with the extremes were seeing ? Just imagine waiting and planning for the event of the year, losing your bike and lucky to walk away with your life !

Yeah Bob, and it's just not your imagination either

It hasn't rained here in the NC/SC/VA area in over a month, with 100 degree days, while Texas and Oklahoma of all places are going thru their 2nd round of floods just this summer.

If you want to read more about the national Guzzi rally flooding, , go over to www.wildguzzi.com and poke around. It sounds like nearly 400 people had to evacuate and most lost at least something, with a fair number losing their bikes and everything else they rode in with with.
Very sad... :(

I checked out those links.  Thanks guys.  I knew it was bad, but reading about it first hand from the ones that went through it .................... well, what can I say.    :'(

I found some pictures from people who went back to clean up and get some bikes  hauled back.  What a mess.  They all have a good attitude though, and I think they will all get back riding soon.  It seems that the insurance does cover this for most of them, if they've got the right coverage.  Some are even getting their bikes rebuilt already.  Amazing.

There were some real heros there that night.  They were all helping each other as much as they could until they just couldn't move any more.

This won't change my wanting to camp, but it will change my ideas about exactly where I place my tent.
