Justin left a message in the chat room that he has turned the issue overto YABB folks for resolution....... while I was in the chat, i saw Justin's post but I couldn't add my chat to the board... which is another issue to solve.

YaBB support had me shorten the forum name, and rebuild the userlist and userinfo files and they rebuilt fine.  They say if those files had been trashed they wouldn't have rebuilt and I looked at them and they appear fine.  According to them this indicates this is something wonky with the host.  They say, and I agree, that if everything has been working fine and all of a sudden doesn't work, and you have made no changes or mods to the forum, then it has to be a host issue.

I noticed, after a lot of jumping around, that my "clock" in the upper left displayed different times and different usernames depending on the "board" I am in.  I also notice that when I get into a board if I do a <shift><reload> then my name comes back along with the correct time.  It's almost like I am being served up a mix of cached and live data.  I have asked Suraklyn to query the hosting company to see if they have made any server changes.

If you leave them an out by asking a question, they will take it and the ball is now back in your court

I'm looking at other hosting options as I'm 99.99% sure the past issue we had with logging in was caused by something on the host server.  For an "unlimited" account at one of the "budget" hosts we are looking at between $5 and $10 per month for hosting fees.  I have already paid for a two year extension on the domain name a couple months ago so we are good on that...

The "new" post buttons are not working, I read something and it still shows as new......I post something and it doesn't show at all BUT..........

if you go to the bottom of the Board Index page and select the "most recent" posts... it seems to be stable and shows all that has been posted.

Check out username and date/time-stamp in the upper left corner at top of page - really strange.  Hit <shift><reload> and you get your name AND the time is correct.  Until you go somewhere else, sometimes...

The only way I could reply to this was to <shift><reload> on General Category and one it was open in a different window I was able to reply to thread.

Even if it displays your correct name check the time...

Hi guys - I'm Dandello from YaBB logging under admin.
I played around with a few settings here and the problems here do appear to be a host issue involving cached pages even when the forum settings are supposed to the tell the browser to check every time.

I have, in the past, run across a few hosts that automatically cache pages on the server without telling their customers. They usually claim it's to speed up page loading and save bandwidth.

That's what I'm pretty sure is happening here.

The YaBB Support Forum Admin logged into the forum last night and said, "I think there are cookie issues and it definitely behaves like things are being cached badly.  But the detailed version check would throw errors if there was anything bad happening in the YaBB code."

I ran a detailed version check and it went through fine, as did rebuilding membory history and member lists.

I am continuing to search for a new host that will provide the proper environment for the forum without breaking the bank.
