mirror repairs

Hi All

I went for a great ride today except my rear view mirror fell off it's arm.

It remains intact but I have no idea how to get it back on. The nut etc are all rattling around in the round mirror end but how do I open it up to re attach the nut onto the arm? It is the original mirror and it appears to be sealed.

Any suggestions?

Being "factory sealer and sanitized for your protection" means just that! You'll most likely destroy it trying to open the case. And how nice will it look after hammering the rim shut?

You asked for suggestions so I'll pass along mine. Start saving some coin for a new mirror.

In the meantime, mix up some trusty J-B Weld, pack it into the open hole, sit on your scooter in your normal riding position, join the two pieces -use plenty of J-B as you'll only get one shot at this- adjust to the desired position and tape the mirror in place until the adhesive has fully cured.

It'll hold the mirror until you put on a shiny, or matte black, new one.
