Hi everyone just stumbled on this forum and found some good tips and advice, so decided to sign up.

I am based in the U.K. in Chepstow, Wales. I own a 1981 R65 in black; it's the only colour for a BMW!!

I look forward to getting to know more of you and you total sum of knowledge of this great little bike.

Welcome to the herd, Greenman. We have a number of UK cats on board so you'll be in dangerous company. ;)

If you've lurked about for a time, you'll know that we love to see photos of member's bikes. Post up a pic or two when you get an opportunity. And don't be a stranger. We're all friendly fire.

Welcome Greenman.

Although Chepstow is famous for it's race course I confess I couldn't think where you were and had to resort to google maps. I can see now you are right  down at the South end Wales on the river Wye. Looks like an interesting place.

Welcome Greenman!

Seeing that you're in Chepstow reminds me of a wonderful trip my wife and I took to Wales a couple of years ago.  We spent a night in a B&B on Mounton Road and had a lovely dinner at the Boat Inn overlooking the Wye.  I love Wales and kept thinking what an ideal place it is for motorcycling.  It made me long to have my black'82 there with me for some open air touring.  As it was I was struggling with driving a rented Ford Focus that we picked up in Bath.  The driving on the left was tough to get used to, especially with the manual shift on the left.  All worth it though!

Looking forward to seeing some pics of your bike with some of the Wales countryside in the background. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Thinking Cousin Ed got it right, Lucky Lou, along with you. Of course, Lou, you're the resident expert on pubs!

The wikipedia article stated, ' "The Green Man" is also a popular name for English public houses and various interpretations of the name appear on inn signs."

Let's all lift a glass to our newest member. [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Thanks for the welcome all!!

The green man is traditionally a symbol for the coming of spring, it is as old as time it's self. It is often found as the name of a pub, as it also represents the start of plenty and much self indulgence, i.e. drinking.

I too like a glass of sherbet now and then! But I use the name because I work in the sports turf line of business, so it sort of goes well with my work.

Glad to hear that many of you know of Wales, there are some great roads for bike all over the country, especially through the mountain sections of mid and North Wales.

I will dig out a picture of the bike and post it up shortly.
