All systems Go in the R100
« on: October 24, 2008, 09:10:03 AM »
The Insurance Assessor range today.

Good news, I get more than I paid for the bike and get to keep it to fix it up.  No 'write off' either.

He accepted that the bike was worth doing up and that I wanted to do it.  The money will go a lot further that way.

We agreed what the bike was worth on the open market before the accident (i.e. more than I paid for it) and I got a bit less than that.

Now we can get going.

Glad I priced in that full Keihan zorst, its given me some slack.  But I still have to sort the exhaust out - but we might have to 'keep it real'.  They are nice, but are they worth half the value of the bike?

Plenty of other stuff to do though, but at least I can start stripping her and fixing that bent footpeg hanger on the RHS.

Be back on the road in no time!

 :)

must be an exhaust system.

glad it is moving along, Steve.  I just arranged for a 'lorry' (my nephew), and I think we will go get it on the 1st or 2nd.

Yes 'um - it's an exhaust - just looked it up - and it ain't cheap either. Stainless...mufflers £288 and header plus balance pipe £178.....that's US$459 and US$283 respectively (or about A$2000 and A$1500....  ;D)

Sorry chaps, it was the exhaust - but its worse than that, I have 2 balance pipes on the R100 system!

They are not cheap - but are generally accepted to be the best over in 'Blighty'.

However there are plenty of other cheaper options.  2 into 1 amongst them.

Got to sort the footrest hanger first though (post in technical section).

Cheers
