Hi Gang,

Reporting from beautiful San Diego, CA to celebrate our son's graduating from Marine Boot Camp, Private First Class Isaac Tuvman.

Managed to squeeze in a visit with Mike Valenti - he rode over to our hotel on his beautiful black R65.  We had coffee, talked bikes, and enjoyed finally meeting.

So many good things come from owning BMW motorcycles!  Hoorah!

Look at you guys! Couple a kids.

Bengt Phorqs and I are hoping to lead Mike V just a wee bit astray this summer as we all sample some Texas Hill Country barbecue and cool off with a beverage from the Spotzel Brewery.

Hey, Ken... How about a snap of that freshly-minted Marine?

Ken,

It was a pleasure spending some time with you and your family.  And congratulations to Isaac. Tina and I look forward to feeding that young hungry Marine some home cooked food some weekend while he's still at Pendleton here in the San Diego area.

Monte, I'll be giving you a hollar after I survive the SW desert and enter the wonderful Hill Country before I head for the right coast this summer.

And thought I'd add my son finished top tier of all the recruits and was promoted to Private First Class and also received an Expert Rifleman pin.

His job is supposed to be Air Rescue - he's heading back to Camp P after a 10 day leave and then to Pensacola FL for aviation training.  Hoo Rah

Received this photo just this afternoon via the marvels of electronic communications. SFC Zach Miller about to make earthly contact shortly before noon, Friday 01 March 2013, after departing a Blackhawk helo over DZ Camp Swift (Texas).

The USArmy actually pays him to do this sorta stuff. Zach says it does kinda get your blood up when you step out.

Very cool picture, Monte - looks inspiring.

My dad jumped out of a B17 one time - that's after being shot down over France!  His first jump saved his life!  Funny how the Air Force later sent him his Caterpillar Club membership card (you get one after jumping out of a plane).
