Carbs

I'm having a little "issue" with the carbs on the R65..
The left one "seems" to work ok.. The right one however will drop the cylinder if I back the throttle set screw out all the way... The idle mixture screw for that side has no apparent effect..
The other side I can dial it up and down with the proper effect...

I have cleaned the idle circuits as best as I can... I haven't compared the idle jets between the two carbs however. And the opening in the end of the idle jet on the problem carb seems a little small...You can however blow carb cleaner thru it and all that stuff... I've had the carb apart and blown cleaner thru it as best I could and it seems to be clear...Where should I start looking ?

What say ye ?
I do have a Bing bible on the way.... ;)

It would appear after having a closer look a the pictures in my Clymer book. The the idle jet is at least missing it's o-ring...

Don't know if this would cause the issue i'm having. But it's a start..

Well, it would appear that the recently " rebuilt " carbs weren't really... Just float valve needles, diaphragms, and the bowl gasket were replaced...

Just a few o-rings short of a rebuild... That's just stoopid...
Replaced a few o-rings, finally got the idle circuit clear,  Left carb was way out of adjustment too. So finally started from scratch on both..

Guess what, It runs right now... Amazing !!!

Hope to see ya.... :D

I had problems with idling for a while with my '81 R65, the idle jet has holes drilled into it about halfway down the jet, I thought it was clear, but the hole a the very end, was clogged, I sprayed carb cleaner through it and it came out the four holes, I didn't notice the cleaner never came out of the hole at the end of the jet .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Remember the enrichener circuit jet in the bottom corner of the float bowl!  People forget about that one a lot. 8-)
