I ordered a blanking plate from motoren-israel.com to go in place of the bean can which I'm not using at the moment.  Seems useless to have it spinning out there doing nothing.

I will probably overhaul it and then put in a plastic bag and keep it on the bike as a back up to the Omega Ignition.

Expensive.

I would have thought that Omega would sell such a plate themselves, since their kit is what makes the bean can unneeded?

I've often drooled over the prospect of installing an Omega rotor upgrade and ignition kit on the R65, but don't have the extra cash handy these days.  How do you like it?  Is the engine performance noticeably improved?

Yes.  The Omega Ignition was the best single improvement I made to the bike.  That and learning how to properly balance the carbs. The bike idles well and keeps me from having to go into the bean can every 5000 miles.  Plus I can go back to the bean can by moving a wire from the Omega back to the bean can.

The spark signal is rock steady where it was bouncing around with the points.

There are caveats now.  Omega Ignitions supposedly don't like Omega Alternators.  But I have had both since 2006 and not had problems.

The motoren-israel site has another electronic set up that looks even simpler.

One of the big selling points of the Omega is the ability to leave the stock system in-place as a "spare" ignition that can be quickly/easily switched to in an emergency.

Something like this would be fairly easy to make on the mill...
