How lucky we are!!

Firstly I thank my lucky stars that I was born with the ability to use my common sense ......

I got this off a website here in sunny South Africa where today the Defence Force went on strike and were shot at by ploice who tried to stop their protest actions! .... anyway, back to the topic.

"One smokey with no brakes!!!!!! (take note) front wheel was against the wall and the clutch disintegrates causing the pieces to be sucked up via the oil pump and viola--farked motor

quote r 44 805.00----------------priceless don'tcha think"

That is about $5600 and now my point. Our bikes are much cheaper and we are much more intelligent!

OK. Help me out. What am I missing here? What sorta strange machine has the engine's oil pump in the clutch?

I should mention that it is a BMW K1200 S

Turned out he melted the clutch so badly the plates became paste and this got into the oil whereupon the pump sent it to all sorts of sensitive parts of the motor.

He tried a warranty claim and got a bit peeved when BMW said it was abuse ... new price of the bike was about R155 000. Mine owes me about R25 000!!

The clutch on mine lasted almost 150 000km!

K 1200 series bikes have a single plate dry clutch, just like our airheads, the F series bikes have 16 plate wet clutches .
