there are 12 volt kits for the /2s. most retain the magneto ignitiion although that CAN be replaced also. 12 volts does give you the options of better lighting and modern accessories (cell phone chargers, air pumps, GPS, driving lights, intercom, radios) but one reason to go to a /2 is simplicity. That being said if my /2 was to be a daily rider and I wanted to see better at night I would upgrade to 12 volts. Most of the kits are invisible unless you are savvy about noticing a 12 volt battery. I do have driving lights on the other 3 bikes. BTW - I did find a set of 6 volt airhorns many years ago.
