We need an excruciatingly detailed impression, please!
Personally, I've got it bad for the ST, and have been avoiding my local dealer for fear of what
might happen if I actually did take off on one. They keep sending me postcards too, the bas*ards!!
Tell me it's like a new Bonneville with better brakes, 40 fewer lbs. & 30 extra ponies... :o

They had an ST on the floor but the S was the only demo bike. The thing has plenty of power, very smooth acceleration thru all the gears,no vibration out of the side by side twin, and the bike is so light and agile it handles as fast as you can think.

I visited my local dealer on Friday to pick up an oil filter and was thinking of taking the ST out for a spin, but both the S and ST were out on demo rides!  (Bummer.... :( )

However, since I'm out on Spring Break all next week, I will stop by one morning and WILL take the ST out and put it through its paces!  ;)  (Looking forward to it, too!)

Cool, telepathic handling!

John, since you've got the week off, please give the F800s a sound, thorough thrashing just as soon as possible: we will be expecting a full report! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Hmmmm, maybe a new F800 would stop me from chasing 35 y.o. Guzzis up 'n' down the East coast.....

I did think that the warning light and LCD display telling me I was exactly three pounds low on tire pressure was a bit to high tech for me.

Warning light and LCD over tire pressure? I agree, that's a bit too much information.

But,  while we're way off the R65 path here, have you ridden the new R1200R yet? I ask because you've got an '04 R1150R, and I'm seeing some killer prices on low-miles 1150s here lately.

I've read that the 1200 is lighter, stronger, etc, but when the 1150's half the price, you kinda got to wonder ...

I'm very happy with my R1150R. That's why I don't want to test ride the R1200R!

We've already sold the F800ST...the salesman that owns a R1150R REALLY wants to trade for the R1200R.. He said it's like night and day...lighter and quicker.

We have the Red and Yellow F800S on the floor.  I'm over it now, though.   :'(  I still keep sitting on it with my feet dangling on both sides...  :'(

I sat on the 800ST at our Toronto bike show and I need the same heel lifts, cut down seat and thicker soles that I need on the other 2 bikes....pretty well the same seat height as the uncut R65LS. The little work I ever did on the R1100RT full faired bike the more I really wonder if I want to have so much tupperware to deal with for even the smallest of maintenance jobs.  I was lusting for an 800ST though before i got the F650GS to satisfy my urge to go gravel and not panic.  The ST is about the same weight as the LS!!! And 35 HP more! For straight touring for me, I bet I couldn't do better than the ST.

At the bike show I felt the best on the R1200R..go figure!
1983 R65LS - LRB still my favourite!? 1988 Honda NX250, "Toodles Too" and a Suzuki DR650, "Calypso." All stored in the "Brrrmmm Closet".
