One of the worst, most unnerving feelings in the world is the vague, stomach swirling feeling of a loose rear wheel while going down the road.
I've had this happen to me several times over the years; I usually take the rear wheel off for tire replacement. I had assumed that hand tight with the lug nut wrench included in the tool kit was sufficient, but recently I've come to the conclusion that I either need to replace the washers and nuts, or use an extension on the wrench to get a tighter fit. I suppose there's an actual torque measurement but never really considered it, perhaps that's foolish.
