Fitting BMW OEM windscreen ?
« on: May 26, 2015, 11:56:48 AM »
Hi,

I have unearthed BMW OEM windscreen that came off an R65 (twin shock not mono version) - but it may be common to all.

Anyone any instructions on how to install?

Haynes dont mention it and seems little info on the web anywhere..

I am assuming the instruments have to be removed to fit? Is that true and are they easy to remove and refut on the smaller twins?

Regards

Mark

Have you checked the parts fiche?  It shows all the parts required and how they go together

Mark,  Are you looking at an R65LS fairing or an after-market piece?

As you know, the R65s have an instrument 'pod' and that sorta ugly "cow's tongue" pad thing. You can delete the pod but the instruments and wiring will be exposed.

Little more info, please.

Hi,

The attachments have the screen I am talking about; just not sure how to fit it and what's required in terms of dismantling.

I assume the instruments or part of them needs to be removed but not sure 'what' or 'how'. My 'Haynes' manual doesn't help too much (that illustrates removing RT/RS and S fairings but not windscreen) and neither does my copy of the 'R65' owners handbook.

Any help/advise appreciated.

Looks to me like it mounts on the steering apparatus - somewhere near the top clamp that the handlebars mount to - you can call or email Parabellum for their advice - I've bought a couple windscreens from them and they're very knowledgeable - they also make a specific windscreen for the R65LS, which I have - they are a good resource!
