Safety Kill Switch install??

Anyone here ever install a safety lanyard style kill switch like this?

Any idea how to wire one of these in?

Pingle engineer was unable to determine if the R65 was NO or NC from my feeble descriptions.

I'm okay with wrenching stuff - never been good at reading wiring diagrams, but I'm thinking the R65 is a "normally closed" kill switch, as it appears to go to the coil rather than to ground?

You might check out a marine supply store for a cheaper one. I know all outboard motors have them.

Looks like someone has invented a solution for a problem that isn't.

Whilst I agree with the marine application, I do not think a bike will be going for long.  And will certainly not be coming back to get you.

I would think it would be the least of your concerns if you became separated from your bike.

Yes the kill switch is normally closed.  I don't believe I've ever used the kill switch although I probably should just to keep the contacts clean.  

Crazy price for that switch and it might not tighten up on 22mm bars.

Thanks guys, but I gotta install it - condition for racing...
Just can't tell from the wiring diagram (just cause I don't know how) if the stock kill switch is normal open (goes to ground) or normally closed (goes to power)

It's normally closed.

Here's a simplified version of the ignition circuit.

The colour of the wire between the ignition switch and kill switch is green.

My condolences.

Health and Safety in strikes again.  I thought that was the reason that your throttle was supposed to close when you take you hand of it.  MOT failure that is.

Next it will be exploding bolts to fire you fuel tank off your bike when you break the kill switch

Just got to convince some pen pushing safety fascist that knows nothing about bikes that its a good idea.....

It has to be said though, you have to fit them to cars for racing, so its probably a one rule fits all.

I looked at the tiny wiring diagram in the riders handbook and thought that's going to be no use to me at the side of the road even if I've remembered my best reading glasses.  So I drew out the ignition circuit in a simpler form and and keep a copy of it on the bike.
