My 79's rev counter (tacho) has gone on the blink. Is it even possible to have one of these repaired? (It's not a wiring fault. The pointer moves up the dial, but too slowly and will not go above 3,000).

You may want to send a message to one of our members here, wirespokes, he repairs indicators, don't know if he is capable of repairing tachometers or not .

They come up regularly on FleaBay, they seem to go for between $60 and $140 (and sadly I am the f%^$wit that paid $140). Given that there are fewer and fewer Motometer parts in the world I'd buy another working one and keep the broken one. The day will come when you can take your collection of non-working tachos to a repairer in the hope of there being enough different faults for him or her to assemble a working instrument - the same advice goes for Speedos, clocks and voltmeters (if you are lucky enough to have them).

Since it sort of works, I take it as a good sign it can be made to work properly without too much trouble. Perhaps it needs some cleaning - maybe the circuit board has a bad connection. Sometimes a drop of lube on the pivots does the trick. Definitely don't toss it!!!
