anyone know the torque setting of the big nut under the cylinders where the crash bars mount? my haynes manual doesnt say , thanks in advance

Off the top of my head I think it's 55 ft-lbs. Main engine mount bolt.
(As long as you have solid spacers between the frame and engine, some have luftmeister style vibration damper rubber donut assemblies fitted aftermarket, they require lower torque settings and thread lock.)

55 front, 50 for the rear.  If you play with the torques you can change the 5K rpm vibration band.  Anecdotally id say lower is the way to go.  the later R65's specified a lower engine mount torque.

There ya go!  They do torque by section... comes in handy sometimes when you're servicing one system on the bike to have torques, capacties, tolerances, etc. all in one spot.

Beware the Haynes/Clymer/BMW torque values.  BMW incorrectly converted some of their values from n/ms to ft/lbs and the aftermarket-manual guys copied the mistake.

and my torque wrench only goes up to 40 ft lbs too! have to do 'em to that and tweak 'em a bit more .
