Exhaust silencer ("Muffler") size?
« on: March 23, 2013, 10:37:00 AM »
So I got the beloved Yellow Peril R65RT back together today and started her up...what a racket! Somehow, over winter both silencers had developed bloody great 'oles.

Prob'ly need to replace them. Can anyone tell me if they are specific to the R65, or will (for instance) R80 or R100 silencers fit? They are more easily obtainable...

Thanks all,

Simon

The R65 has smaller exhaust pipes than the larger bikes, I think they are 38mm and the larger bikes are 40 mm .

You can make an adapter to solve this problem easily .

I don't know if the mounting studs on the muffler from the larger displacement bikes will line up correctly to  the frame,  the bike frame is shorter on the R65 .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Hello !
If you plan to change the mufflers, I advise you to get a pair of Keyhan systems stainless exhausts.
They offer a ten year warranty on them and it will be the last muffler you buy for your bike.
I've bought mine around 92 and they are still like new...
So a very good value for money !
