What is the use of ...
« on: November 04, 2012, 04:34:49 PM »
Hello !
My 1982 R65 has a bolt under the tank and affixed to it. It is on the right side of the bike, just above the relays, regulators and the like.
What it is used for ?
Thanks for your help and answer !

It may be the small bracket that was used to secure the tank while it was being painted at the factory .

There are no other places to put a bolt on the fuel tank on the twin shock bikes, unless it's been 'modified' by a previous owner .

My R65's have close to full tanks, or I'd pull one off and take a picture of it .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

I asked a similar question 3 years back. If it's the same bracket as in the photo posted in the thread below I believe we concluded it was used for hanging the tank while painting.
