R100 Brown sidestand on a R65?

A friend gave me a leftover used Brown kickstand of of a R100 parts bike this past weekend, to see if I could fit it on the R65. I'm a little skeptical about crossover use sice the bike sure seems lower to the ground, but without a real one to compare arm lengths... Anyone know? I could cut & weld if need be. Measurement on the R100 one are 13 7/8" from the centerline of the pivot pin to the tail end. Or 12 1/2" from the centerline of the pivot pin to the centerline of the bend at the foot.

Mango, as a long-suffering chaser of Brown sidestands, I can tell you with absolute certainty that the R100 stand is too long for the R65. You could cut it, I suppose, but it might be easier (and more profitable) to sell the R100 and get an R65-specific model. Besides, as rare & exquisite as they are, it seems almost sacrilege to defile or mutilate one.

yep beemerrich gets  [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif] from me on the stand i got from him. well made. easy to install (once i knew where it mounted), he kept in contact letting me know when it would ship. i got mine really really fast but i believe that to more location.

As fate would have it, beemerrich was off on vacation while my email to him was waiting in his inbox. In the mean-while friend Michael passed on the R100 version. Now beemerrich is coaching me on how to cut about an inch off & bend the remaining, even offering a necessary longer engine mounting bolt. Now there's a major thumbs-up fellow airhead.

I know getting out the grinder seems vicious, but then I'd have a Brown on my little blue-meanie, all for just some elbow grease. And heck, throwing sparks to customize your bike can be quite fun, too. Course it'd be really good to figure exactly how much to chop off...
