hi, i know its not a 650, but for £150, i cant complain. it has been stood outside for five years, with a spark plug out,and rusted solid, to the point that i have cut the barrel off. i have found a set of barells and pistons, but they are iron liners, will they fit in place of nickasil barrels. ta :-/

I do believe the bottoms of the jugs are a bit different.  I know that when nicisil jugs are put on a block meant for sleeved cylinders some machining/modding is involved.  But, maybe not going the other way...

I would sell you iron liners and ebay a set of later model r80 or r100 cylinders and pistons.

Wow! That's kind of a drastic solution! Never heard of that before.

Normally we soak them in Marvel Mystery Oil, or some penetrating oil for a week and they break free.

The head studs probably need replaced as well?

What year R80 is it? It's gotta be post 81 if it had nikasils.

I'm pretty sure the jug will slide right in. If it doesn't have a notch for an ORing, you'll have to rely on a very thin smear of gasket sealer - like Hylomar. But make it very thin, especially around the top two studs. Just snug the head nuts, otherwise the sealer will get squeezed everywhere it shouldn't be. When you bolt it down, don't torque the heads right away - instead wait and hour or two, or over night for the sealer to dry. Then torque it down.

hi ,its a 1980/81 r 80rt. tryed soaking it for a week, but no joy. its going to be a long term project, so no rush, but it would be good to know what parts im looking for.
