Knock Knock  (not a joke)
« on: June 16, 2007, 10:50:40 AM »
I have now notice a knock that probably was there all along.
Just did not notice till adjusted valves. It seems to be only on right side.
Is it possible its the push rod, since its on the one side?
I also noticed a ticking sound - like a elec arching. Before I could isolate it it vanished. Will be on look out for its return.
Hoping to hear that replacing push rods will get job done untill winter. Which is when I plan complete rebuild of eng anyway. Wanting to ride but not destroy this machine.
Thanks for any advise

Could be many things, but if the engine runs and there is no great vibration associated, two things jump to mind. The rocker side play or timing chain. The rockers should have no perceptable side play in them, and the timing chain can only really be checked by going in there.
