Omega Alternator install PICTURE
« on: January 11, 2011, 11:13:11 AM »
Got this off the motoren-israel.com web site.  A picture is worth a thousand words.  Then I went back under the front cover of my R65 to make it look like this...

Just a note here, the red wire that comes off of the right upper side, it goes to the starter, that's the component that is just barely visible, this is the junction that has been mentioned about possibly having corrosion and causing poor charging .

The positive battery cable attaches to this threaded post as well, then the alternator output gets to the battery via this cable .

+1 what Bob said.  And also I have a much thicker Gauge red wire, possibly 10 or 12 gauge, than is in the picture.

I was missing the two brown grounds to the alternator housing from the diode board posts -- And it still worked!   :-[

The R65 and R80 bikes have the grounding points for the diode board through the threaded studs at each corner .

The R100 and most of the other bikes had  rubber vibration isolators built into the diode board to stud mounting area (never seen one), they were required to have the ground or bonding wires from the diode board to the engine case or alternator stator cover .
