For North American bikes I believe there were two colors, bronco brown a dark metallic brown and 'champagne' a light metallic beige/tan .

My 79 is silver beige paint code 047 and I believe that was also available in 1980. As Bob has said I think bronco brown was the other choice on the early models. The lack of choice might have been something to do with the brown seat cover which wouldn't have looked right with black or blues. Come to think of it though I'm sure I've seen Henna red with the brown cover.   Much more choice of colours from 81 on.

Edit: Yes if you put 1980 R65 into google images there are so many Henna Red ones that it must have been an original colour choice.  There are also the odd ones in blue but they just look all wrong with the brown seat.

My brothers 81 is Henna red with a brown seat, when i researched options for my 1979 rebuild the spiel at the start of this web page gives you the options available i settled on Champagne or Silver beige as it was called in Europe.
