There's a how to guide in the FAQ/Procedure section .
I took one apart about 6 years ago, not complicated at all .
One real problem area, is getting a split ring on the armature shaft back on, and then a cup to go over it, that took me more time than entire rest of the procedure !!
If you were referring to the task of getting the brushes over the slip ring - I have a trick for that - (from lots of VW and MB starters... - sorry if this is mentioned in the writeups - I'm at work/lunch and those pages arent coming up quickly...)
find your smallest tie wrap, or find some small gauge electrical wire (tie wrap preferred) - insert the brush into its holder, compress the spring fully, and tie-wrap the brush in place - note the tie wrap will probably wrap all the way around the brush and holder - most starters have the clearance for this.
repeat for each brush, then install teh armature, get everything seated and lined up, then cut the tie wraps to 'free' the brushes.
or...maybe you were referring to something else, if so....nevermind =)
