After discovering a nasty transmission oil, badly corroded pushrod and piston bearing brought about by a perforated plastic cover I replaced the worn parts refilled with oil and ran the bike 3 or 4 times for 15 min periods. Drained the oil and got what I consider large pieces of metal in the magnet. However, these do not appear to be freshly sheared pieces, but perhaps the remains of the missing bearing race which was not found when removing the external clutch parts.
They appear to be rusted steel more than chrome of stainless and up to 1/8 "" long. I am thinking of flushing the oil once more and see what happens but I dont have much confidence that this is is bad. Anyone know soemone with experience with these units in south florida?
The transmission makes a grinding noise from 1st to 2nd unless I am very careful shifting and neutral is hard to find. Spline job done and just replaced the coathanger wire with one of Justins linkage unit (what a beauty).
