Hi there!
Like some of you might remember, I have done a complete top end job on the LS cylinder (low compression because of some deep scratches on the walls). Ath that time and since my RS cylinder had very good compression, I left it alone. (If aint broken, dont fix it!)
Anyway, I got sick of the pushrod tubes oil leak, and decided to change them and get new piston rings since I would have the cylinder out of the engine.
My engine always burned a lot of oil, but I had began to believe it could simply be because of worn valve seats, but today I discovered this:
-> The RS oil piston ring was upside down!
I am actually happy to have found this, since this could mean I have found my oil consumption problem... The Cylinder had however good compression, but I guess the oil ring doesn't have a lot of influence on compression, right?
Tomorrow morning I will start the new rings break-in and hopefully will have a nice surprise with the oil consumption...
Any of you mates has had one of this surprises before?
