You can tell spring is approaching as I get renewed enthusiasm for my project!

Has anyone a view on the Boyer Bransden micro digital ignition kit?
or,
is there something better for a 1980 model with bean can points?

Omega from de-fatherland.

Runs off the crank shaft.  Rock steady and here is the trick.  You keep the points in the can so if the Omega ever quits, you move one wire and your back in action again.  Way cool.   8-)

Start off on setting "zero" on the slow mark and keep turning it up until you can see the fast mark when you advance the trottle to 4000 rpm.  Originally I used the recommended setting of 4 but I ended up using setting 7 because I got both marks in the window from idle to full advance.

There are a range of electronic ignitions available from the £10.00 points amplifier kit that I built upwards to 10 or 20 times that price.
If cost is no object a crank triggered ignition like the Omega has to be technically the best type of system as it eliminates any inaccuracy resulting from the timing chain. Easy roadside restoration of the stock system is something I would want too and not many will do that.
