Very simple question probably
« on: November 05, 2009, 05:20:47 PM »
When I took out the plugs on LRB to fog the cylinders for winter storage, the right side spark plug electrode on the bike was quite white but dry and the left side was pretty well light brown, dry and near perfect. Does that mean LRB  is running leaner on the right side? Do I reset the air/mixture adjustment as per our owners manuals? Which way should I turn the adjustment screw to make it just a tad richer? Bike runs great. Even worry about it at all???

When was the last time a carburetor synchronization was performed ?

If it's been awhile, I'd do it at the beginning of the riding season next year .

I would start at the carb and make sure the Idle Jet in the bottom corner of the float bowl is clean and flowing.  Then make sure the float bowl gasket is OK especially around this Idle Jet passage.  An air leak there could cause the carb to run lean. If you want to richen the mixture, turn it counter clockwise about 1/16 (about the distance of the width of the slot) and then go run it.  The proper range is about 1/3 of a turn so a little bit will go a long way.

Of course I am a big fan of the colortune plug for setting Idle Mixtures.

You want the blue color at Idle.
