R65 rear wheel

The attached photo is of the rear wheel center on my 78 R65. There seems to be a crack, visible on the photo just below the large copper-colored rivet. In fact it appears to go right round the wheel center and looks very neat indeed, like an assembly join (but who would join two parts along a line of holes?). The wheel seems rock-steady. Does this look familiar to anyone? If so advice would be appreciated!

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Mine has the same casting marks. I looked at them with some suspicion at first too.
