Liquid sealant as oil pan gasket - a no no ?

In order to inspect and clean, I removed the oil pan from my R65. I have a quality (Nural 60) liquid gasket sealant at home, could it replace the normal paper gasket?
Besides that, using these lock washers is also a no no?

How tight of a bond does the sealant have ?

With no paper gasket, it may be quite difficult to remove the oil pan at a future time .

I'm not sure how deep the threaded holes in the engine block are, without the gasket, the bolts may bottom out before tightening up the oil pan .

Those lock washers may tear up the metal of the oil pan, it's just a soft aluminum casting, not steel .

Thanks for the opinion, I will cut a new paper gasket for it.. (I have a roll of good thick gasket paper) maybe it is better... and forget about those lock washers... thanks :)

Many have had success with the silicon gaskets from

Aircraft quality and reusable - if you don't mind the red/orange color they are great.

Seems like the silicone gaskets would be good to get for the valve covers anyway.  I find myself pulling them off fairly frequently to adjust and tinker and that tends to do in my paper gaskets fairly quickly. :(
Those silicone gaskets ain't cheap, but then neither are those paper gaskets.  Could be a savings in the long run.

Try coating them with Copperslip or a HT lube should be reusable.

love the silicone valve cover gaskets! The oil pan gasket is a bit different though. There I like to use the OEM item as it doesn't have to come off for adjustments like the valve cover. Also it is a bit thicker than the average gasket paper stock I've seen around.
