REAR AXLE SKETCH NOT SHOWN.
« on: September 23, 2009, 05:04:15 PM »
Hey what is missing here? After cleaned up my rear wheel, I worked on the axel. Cleaned up fine with simple green. I then polished up the axel, washer and nut  with some Mother Aluminum polish. I was looking in my Haynes, Clymer, and factory repair manual. None of these show a sketch of the rear axel, only the front axel. Just a heads up. The front axel has the axel nut on the left. Rear has the axel nut on the right. I NEED A DRAWING TO MAKE COFFEE! OLDPAUL

Please include your model year when posting, or add it to the sig line. It'll help us help you. The following is for an '81 R65. With your VIN number, you can get the exact parts pages for your bike.   Monte

The front axle is inserted from the right side, the spacer goes between the left side of the wheel, and the left lower fork tube .

The rear axle is inserted from the left side .

It's next to impossible to get this wrong, as the axles are 'stepped', or 'shouldered', and only go in one way, without grinding away metal . .
