I have a 83 R65, mileage 35K.

I'm getting ready to replace the fork seals, felts, boots, etc.

Any body know what the recommended mileage is for replacing the springs?

In the BMW shop manual, it states a 'relaxed fork spring length' of : 490 mm (+12 mm),  19.291 in. (+ .472 in.) .

I guess that the 490mm, and 19.291 in., are the minimum lengths, the additional 12mm, and .472 in., are probably new never installed dimensions for a spring .

Riding all year long since 1993 .
I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

Thanks for the info, I'll measure before I order.
