Has any body ever tried YSS shocks for their bike?  I desperately need a new set and a local shop has a set that will fit my bike for $275.  They are model number Model RZ 302 and they have adjustable rebound damping and a threaded pre-load.  Does this look like a good deal?

Can't much comment on the YSS shocks, beyond the fact that  they seem kinda pricey.
Lots of folks here are running Hagons, which have an excellent performance & durability record, and should cost less than these YSS.

They look like they could be pretty good shocks.  I think the length of the shock is important.  The length is given by digits 7, 8 and 9 in the product code.

I think the stock shock length on a 79-84 R65 is 12.75 inches (approx. 324mm).

I like my Hagons just fine.  They definintely improved comfort.  They cost just under $200 US with shipping (I'm pretty sure there were shipping charges...).

If adjustability is important to you, then the extra $75 might not hurt so much.

My Hagons have 3 settings for spring preload.  They also have different dampning bodies available.  When you call the # on the website, you are talking directly to Dave Quinn, and he can help you decide what would be best for you depending on rider/equipment weight and riding style.
