Recieved a call from the individual that I bought my '84 LS from three weeks ago, in clearing out his garage for an immenent eviction, he found another box full of parts for the LS, and Guzzi .
Went over there this morning to pick up the parts, and one of the parts was an electronic 'bean can', that in itself isn't overly news worthy, but what I was told, is that this 'spare' is from an early '80's Volkswagen Rabbit .
The original owner of this bike, apparently had some knowledge of Bosch parts, he worked in an auto parts store for about 15 years part time .
The only difference that there was between the BMW, and Volkswagen part, is that the VW part had four wires at the connector, and the BMW had three .
This may be an avenue for spare parts for worn out or damaged 'bean cans' .
(edit)
I did some checking for ignition parts for a Rabbit, and in no way is the 'bean can' an ignition part for this vehicle .
I found some overhaul kits for the Bosch distributors used on the Rabbit, and from the looks of it, most of the parts should be compatible, but at a cost of over $100US not real cost effective .
Oh well, seemed to good to be true, and it was !!!
