H3 LED Lamps
« on: January 28, 2021, 09:54:07 AM »
Anyone have any experience with H3 LED's .
I ordered a set of 2 for the '81 R65 .
With the headlight on and 2  PIAA 40 55 watt driving lights, I'm using 165 watts of power .

I'll give up my R65, when they pry my cold dead hands from the handlebars !!!!!

I haven't used them
I remember looking for them back when I was wanting to install   more vintage  looking flood lights on my bike but could not find any
I see now they are making them
Let us  know what kind of pattern you get
I am definitely interested

I received the LED's yesterday, pattern and light output look good over the lamps I had in there .
I'll know when I ride to work next Saturday morning .
My only concern, was that the lamps would be too long to fit in the light housings, they fit fine . .

The H3 lamps don't look like they are going to work very well in this application .
Light is too diffused not focused, I can't even tell where they are aimed .
The H4 lamps  that I got this week look pretty good in both the oilhead and the R65

Hm, the LEDs are a lot further into the reflector than the halogen element. Losing focus. That's a pain!
