Harvest Festival in Luckenbach
« on: October 19, 2010, 06:30:38 PM »
Another vintage motorcycle event on my October calendar. This weekend, October 22-24, it's the Harvest Festival in downtown Luckenbach, Texas.

A bit smaller than the Barber event and a lot closer to home; we don't even need to leave the state of Texas. FWIW, driving west from Orange, Texas to El Paso takes longer than the eleven hour run to Alabama that Mike and I just did!

This time, it's me and my bride. The proximity to Fredericksburg, Texas, and all those foo-foo girlie shops, hooked her in a New York minute.

Photos to follow. It's always way cool in Luckenbach.

OK, I'll dump some photos Sunday evening or Monday...

The Luckenbach Harvest Classic Euro & Vintage gathering was, well, classic. However, not one R65 in the show line nor could I spot one in the bike parking areas. Most every other BMW model was well represented; from a neat, old R25 to the lastest offerings.

I'm here in Blanco, Texas, right now, loading up to run into Fredericksburg and tour the National Museum of the Pacific War.

Hey, Bengt... Watched the trials competition. Lots of guys we saw at the Barber AHRMA event. This time, there were plenty of obstacles for the "slow and precise" crowd to negotiate. Start practicing!

The Texas Hill Country is well known for its soul soothing capabilities. However, even the mellow inhabitants of Luckenbach can become a bit rowdy during such a motorcycle event as the Harvest Classic. This year, the organizers began to clamp down on the debauchery... they now have a bad ass security dog to keep all in line. Woof ;)
