The Dragon is closed

Apparently there was a rock slide on The Dragon near Deals Gap in North Carolina.  US 129 will be closed for quite a while.  Here's an article.  http://www.thedailytimes.com/article/20100319/NEWS/100319960

Oh, Waaa... so sad. ;)

Texas has a much better "Dragon" in our own Hill Country.

From Kerrville TX, Ride Hwy 16 south to Medina. From Medina, romp west on 337 to Leakey TX and the Frio Canyon Motorcycle Stop. http://www.friocanyonmotorcyclestop.biz/ Buy your "I Rode the Sisters" T-shirt, fortify yourself with a snack and then jump on the Three Twisted Sisters; 335, 336 and 337. These girls rock [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Monte,
I've ridden both and I would have to agree with you. Anyone who hasn't done the Hill Country is in for a treat. Leaky is a great central spot to venture out for a 2 or 3 day exploration.
I just recently discovered the incredible riding in TX the past 5 years.
Nothing against the Dragon and BR...it's all good.

For anyone that finds themselves in southeastern Arizona, in good weather, worth the effort to ride this road, on two, or four wheels .

http://motorcycleroads.us/roads/az_us191.html

It's even mentioned in Wikipedia, as being a dangerous road, in the route description for Arizona .

While we're in AZ, let's not forget hwy89 & 89a in-between Jerome and Flagstaff...one of my all time favorites.
