D'Rose Inn, Leakey, Texas
« on: January 21, 2010, 12:58:27 PM »
As mentioned by Mike V in the "California Rain" thread, the D'Rose Inn in the Texas Hill Country is a motorcycle only inn.

And coincidentally, it is listed in this months "Ride Texas" magazine as the Number 1 choice for motorcycle lodging in Texas.  No vested interest here, I'm just always on the lookout for nice places to stay while riding.

For those of you that have never visited the D'Rose, I would highly recommend it. I communicate regularly with Deb after meeting her during one of our stays while meandering East from CA. She's an impressive gal and is a one-woman show, owner operator. I believe it's a 2-night minimum but the roads in the area are well worth the stay.  I found the Hill Country a treat and literally opened my eyes to Texas and the vast amount of fantastic roads and two-wheeled exploration (I had no idea). I'll be going through there this summer for my annual tour to the Carolina's and Chicago. Would be great to meet up with some you there as I'm passing through.

What's your itinerary and dates? I might be able to talk Phorqs into a Hill Country and Austin Fandango. My eldest son, plus my grandkids, live in Capitol City so we're open for even the slightest opportunity to head that way.   Monte

Sounds good to me too.  Plus we might be heading to N. Carolina again this summer (new granddaughter) and wouldn't mind trying to organize a mini-rally.  Well, more like let's all meet somewhere, ride some good roads and eats some bodacious barbeque like Coopers in Llano.  We also have a son in Austin.  Might be able to talk Scotty, Lee Harvey, or Texas Burt along.  Who knows, Justin may even decide to saddle up for the ride.

Let us have some dates and maybe we can organize something.

Now we're talking. No hard date yet, I normally leave San Diego early August, stop#1 Tucson, stop#2 Van Horn then the D'Rose. And I also like to visit my cousin in Bulverde for a night while I'm in that area. Then meet up with my buddy in Lockhart for some Black's, Smitty's and Kreitz Market. BBQ coma! Steve (83 R100/RS) lives in Hendersonville, NC and runs West to meet me. We may pass up Lockhart this year and meet farther East closer to his home. Then the Blue Ridge, Trace and a night at his house before running North to Chicago.  I think a possible rondevu at the D'Rose would be a treat! When we committ to a departure date I'll throw it out there to you guys. Let's do it!
