Here's a picture dump of where I'm at with old rusty.  Have bearing pullers/new bearings for the steering head and swingarm.  As soon as they're out it's off for powder coating.  Will be painting swingarm since won't need to remove drive shaft.  Hope I can get a good match.

My 1976 RD400 has been taking most of my time these days.  The polar opposite of the R65!  Also did 36k service on my GS.  There's only so much GoJo a man can take!

Looks like the heads and valve covers were not painted originally.  Hopefully some elbow grease and dremel will make it look acceptable. Did BMW paint the heads and valve cover in other years?  

Have got the brakes and carbs finished.  Just need to do about 1000 other things before it's a rider again.

The valve covers of my R65 came unpainted.  When I first started seeing photos of other R65s with painted valve covers I thought they must have been snavelled from an R100.   :o
