This is just a short, open invitation to anyone who wishes to join several of the R65.org Regulars for a fun-filled camping weekend at Willville, http://www.willvillebikecamp.com/ , on the weekend of August 10th thru 13th, along the Blue Ridge Parkway in beautiful Meadows of Dan, Virginia. Some of us got together and thought it would be great to have as many of us come as possible, so, if you're interested in some low-key camping and great riding, please come join us!
If you need any more info (not that we have much ::)), please feel free to contact SCJJ John, Ms Buck aka Aida, or me. Otherwise, come on up, down or over, and let's have some fun!
Hope to see you there! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Rob, Here's yer chance to grab that cache with the money saving coupon! :D
I'm even planning to take my R65 up, even though my Laverda is already there. It should be fun and the roads are FANTASTIC! ;D (https://bmwr65.org/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.skylinechat.com%2Fimages%2Fsmilies%2Fsmiley184.gif&hash=e61924cb0283ba508eb74e5e72f0af256f5fb489)

I know, and I'd love to come - but I am saving up for a down payment (1st/last rent) on a new home of my own, and that is taking a big part of my money for the near future. I am hoping to be able to seriously shop during Sept.
I figure, if I am lucky, I might get to go to Boxerworks forum rally in Oct. Joan is expected, and Duane is even trying to make his calendar fit.
But right now all I have for time off is two days flex time, and I have no idea what the next two weeks hold!
Sorry to poop out. Not the last!
We'll see what this weekend brings.

...greasy BMW R65s, rolling out of dank flophouse basements, begin leaving at dawn, headed for the big party, the big event: the "run" (yeah, right! ::))
Now that all of the BS drama's out of the way, if you can make it to Willville this weekend, please do. If you live anywhere in the Eastern half of the USA, you know you're dyin' in this heat: why not head to the cool, clean mountains for a day or 3 or 10? It's only logical, right? :-?
Anyway, those that can make it, c'mon.
Those that can't? Hey, it goes that way sometimes! Next time? [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Got the iPod Shuffle loaded up with a bunch of proper "riding tunes", and will be hitting the road toward the "promised land" this morning after Pattimarie's physical therapy appointment! Britta has a fresh change of oil in her and is ready to roll! Woo-Hoo!! 8-)
-
Yep, all loaded and ready to go! Headed north by way of Greensboro this time. Can't wait to hit the cool breeze (well, at least cooler than here!!!) [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

You guys make me jealous!! I love South Africa, but for once I wish I was living in America... oh well - the only option is to make you jealous in return with some nice rides and pics from SA
-
Well, I made it back alive! Lots of photos to go over to decide which ones are decent enough to put up for all to see, but I'll try to get around to it today. I got one of the 3 "Cow riders" who were there (Steve, Aïda, and me) at Willville this past weekend for a "teaser" that I'll put up.
I'll say this for now.... Willville is one GREAT destination to ride to! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

True that, lots of pics to cull thru and edits to be made: I'm just glad John didn't succumb to the 100+ degree heat on his initial ride up to NC!
I believe he was rather "toasty" by the time he got here, but he soldiered on. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Meanwhile, here's one shot of our Esteemed Moderator looking moderately motivated ;)

OK, here is a link to a small slide show that I slapped together (with the help of my riding buddy, Steve) that gives an account of sorts of the big Willville weekend.
After you click on "View as Slideshow", when the first image comes up, click on the image near the bottom. A commentary should pop up that explains each slide in the show.
(Note: You may have to copy and paste the link below if it does not work as it should.)

We just got home from our anniversary weekend spent with some great new friends! What a marvelous time we had. It was so great getting the chance to meet John and visit with Steve again. We were there Friday and Saturday night then headed down to Little Switzerland for a couple of days and ended up back at Willville last night.
John, you did a FABULOUS job with the slideshow!!! [smiley=clap.gif] What great pictures. I'm going to share them with Will if that's OK with you. We're planning to be back for the "Memories of Dan" weekend at Willville in September (the weekend after labor day weekend). Hope to see you guys back up there again. And maybe we can coax a few others that are nearby to meet up with us... [smiley=beehive.gif]

I'm just disappointed that I didn't get a photo of Will with his two "boys", Rascal and Buster! :(
Hope Will enjoys the slideshow! HE WAS ONE GREAT HOST! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Wow! SC John, I must ask, how did you ever assemble such a fine looking group of folks??! ;)
And, I just wanted to add 2 things:
1) Everything you see at Willville was cut, dug, hauled or built pretty much by one man with a dream, and is an ongoing, evolutionary process. Will escaped the "grind" that often traps many of us, and has created what he set out to do, and then some, without a box full of cash or big corporate support, while also protecting the environment & carefully utilizing the natural resources within and surrounding his camp. He's not getting rich, far from it, and he never planned to, but he's living a life he loves, and that deserves our support, recognition and respect, at least in my book: these things don't just happen every day. If you are ever in the area, please stop by and say "Hi". [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
2) It's an "Art bike", John, not a "rat bike", remember??? ::)
-
Oh, yeah... Right.... Right..... Art Bike......Art Bike....... I got it now..... ::)
-
Boy did I miss a good get together.......with Steve, John and Aïda ! Also, John's pics are so good and really make me itch to get to Willville campground. I will! If I had all my own way I'd leave Finger Lakes rally and head to Willville.....then.....hang around down there long enough for Boxerworks rally??? Next summer I would definitely like to go to the Gathering of the Clans airhead rally in Ferguson NC rather than the RA or both.
But my disappointment this summer that my brother and friend are not going down the Blue Ridge is bigtime as we would have been there for the Willville weekend. This is one big reason why travelling alone is good....no one else to wreck the PLAN!

Well Sue, there's another big Willville to-do coming up the weekend of September 7th thru 9th, the weekend after Labor Day here.
This is Will's annual cookout Saturday nite, and folks come from far & wide and bring lots of goodies.
Saddle up and ride on down, okay? [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
