Title: BMWMOA National West Bend. Wisconsin
Post by: Siouxzy on July 20, 2007, 06:26:03 AM
Had a great 11 days going to, camping at, and returning from the National in Wisconsin.  :D Rode across PA into Ohio and then north thru Michigan- crossing the Macinaw bridge (25th anniversary) then thru the UP- stopped for a pastie (YUM) then down into Wisconsin- with a side trip into the Door Pennisula/Sturgeon bay. HAd a few charging problems there- then rode into the rally site- Airhead Central was great- many helpful folks help diagnosthe problem (voltage regulator). The rally site was wonderful- plent big for us 8000 attendees, lots of vendors, local brews in the beer tent,  [smiley=1drink.gif] good music, and the weather gods cooperated as well. It was not too hot  and the only rain we got was over nite!. The ride home was even better. Back thru the UP and then cross into Canada at Sault Ste. Marie. 17 across Ontario is very cool- then spent some time in Algonquin Provincial Park before crossing back into NY over the 1000 Island bridge. All told- 3100 miles and I smiled all the way! THis was my firlst LONG trip on the LS and I have no complaints. I would not have wanted to interstate it for long periods of time, but had no problem doing 10 over the speed limit on 2 lanes or 4 lanes.
I love this little bike!

Thanks for the review and welcome to the forum!

Are you planning on being at AMA Vintage Days?  Look for me with my R65 t-shirt on.

Siouxzy,

Thanks for the good trip report!  You definitely got some good riding in for that  trip.  And yeah, these are great bikes.   They'll get you wherever you want to go and make you smile.   ;D

Wish I could make one of these National rallys.  But Wisconsin would have taken me many more days and I sure don't have the vacation time.  I guess I'll have to wait until it gets out here to California.

Melina, there are lots of rallys in California, especially in the winter. Check out the BMWMOA website. They arent nationals, but should be good to attend. Dew.

Hi Dew,
Lots of rallys?  I'll have to check.  I do know of a few.  I love going to the 49er Rally and the Autumn Beemer Bash.  Actually, those are the perfect size for me.  Not too big.   :D

I would just love to go to a national rally sometime though so I could meet more of the people that I talk to online.
