Title: When is the next (anywhere) rally?
Post by: Joan on March 01, 2007, 02:31:13 PM
I'm reading about the RA on the east coast 6/ (I'll be dirt biking in WA), and the MOA in WI , then there's the 49'er in CA 5/25-27, and the Chief Joseph Rally 6/15-17, and then there's the little known and unofficial Boxerworks rally in Okiehoma 5/18-20... Anything else we should know about? Especially west of of the Mississippi?

I gots parked moto syndrome, bad, and daydreaming about all the rallies and rides seems to help.  [smiley=stare.gif]

And thank yew!

East half - but I have been dreaming of Mid-Ohio Vintage Days (http://www.boxerworks.com/phorum/read.php?f=1&i=186214&t=186063) the last couple of days.  I ordered my weekend pass last night!   [smiley=clap.gif]

Then, I just came here to bring this link (http://motofest.cbisland.com/) for anyone considering Cape Brenton (heard it mentioned many times, here).  Of course, that is even further East...

Sorry Joan, my brain doesn't work for the West coast very well...  :(

Hmmm... Cape Breton! Always wanted to visit on bicycle or to take a fiddle class, but jeepers, it would take all my vacation time just to get there and back in a leisurely fashion, and not just Paul Mondor style, Tims to Tims.

Plus there is the great west coast of Canada, including the wild and glorious Vancouver Island! Then there's the fabulous ride through Canada to Alaska.... aaaah, memories! Got to do that again Real Soon Now.

Ohio sounds kind of fun.  ;D

Thanks for the ideas, Rob. I guess I like having an event for my destination, because it makes getting away from work and chores a little easier, as in, "I simply MUST go to XYZ Rally in southern Florida next week; they're giving a three day muffler bearing tech class that really NEEEEED so I can fix my muffler bearings myself!"  ;)

[smiley=ROTFLMAO.gif]  Oh! Oh!  My stomach hurts now.  Hee hee!  I've heard about those muffler bearings.   ;D  I'd better go to that XYZ Rally too.   ;D  Hee hee!

I agree.  Having a destination and a certain time frame makes it easier to get away.  But it seems to me that there aren't as many rallys here on the West Coast as on the East Coast.  I'd love to go to more rallys if there were more to go to that aren't halfway across the country.  I guess I'm going to have to get more vacation time (yeah, right).

The 49er Rally seems to be the first one of the year around these here parts.

Yeah, but it's hard not to physically fall down laughing when they fall for it.
I mean jeepers, my http://www.pbase.com/image/28272606broken muffler bearings are well documented on the internet so it must be true, right?

Yes... uh... forgive me, I *have* stooped this low to get another couple of days off.

I think I'll be going to Chief Joseph this year.  My friend is trying to talk me into riding the Triumph, and he would ride his old Chief, just to irritate people.  My R65 will haul lots more junk (inc. bev, you know) so it's a more likely candidate.

Gah! I know someone with a beautiful old Indian Chief too! Of course his would require at least as much work as the 'free' R65 to get it running well enough to ride, living in an old garden shed the last twenty years, so sad...

Ed, what kind of luggage on your R65 do you use for rallies and beverages?

I do not have carriers for my pop kegs, like you have for Blueberry.  :-(  You're famous, you know that, right?

A pair of big Perry Scott hard bags on crummy home made mounts, and a big Cortec magnetic tank bag.  To be honest, I've never gone to a rally like to camp, just tech days.  Oh, and an occasional Barley Therapy.  Yeah, occasional....   I could strap my tent and sleeping bag across the seat behind me easily enough.  There shouldn't be a problem bringing my camp stove and espresso maker either.

BMWMOGA Georgia Mountain Ralley in May.

http://www.bmwmoga.info/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=91&day=2007-5-4&c=1

If that doesn't work then got to http://www.bmwmoga.info/ and look for Georgia Mountain Ralley on the Left side.

Seems like there was something in the SC?NC area near that time as well.   :)

R65 is still at Nathans, wrist pin bushings on the way from somewheres.  Just glad I can get 'em.  I might drive the BSA overthere just get a Latte from the pretty lady behind the counter.   ;)

TTFN,

Some day I'm gonna make the GMR. Gmap says 2694 mi /40 hours from here, but that first weekend in May the snow/cold in the Wasatch and Rockies is still kinda scary for scaredy cats such as myself.  ;)

Have you been Mr. Gumby? Got pics?

Top of the Rockies, one of the nicest of the western rallies, in July!

Some folks will be hitting this on the way back from the MOA, myself included!
